We are Wild Heart Books

Currently accepting submissions from new and published authors.

Wild Heart Books offers historical romance novels set prior to 1900 and woven with the truth of God's love.

We understand our readers and strive to provide the kind of exciting historical stories they love, complete with heroes to make us swoon, strong heroines, and inspirational messages to encourage our faith.

We are currently open to submissions from new and established authors, including authors who wish to relaunch their back-list titles.

At this time, we are open to submissions from agents and individual authors.

Specifics on what we prefer:
  • Genre: Christian Historical Romance
  • Word Count: At least 50,000 words. Ideally between 55,000 - 75,000 words.
  • Setting: We prefer books set in the United States or Canada, but will consider other locations.
  • Time Period: Our preferred time period ranges from 1700 to 1900, but we will consider earlier periods.

What we offer:
  • Extensive experience in marketing ebooks directly to readers
  • Connection with an audience who loves to read books in the niche we publish
  • Top-notch editors, proofreaders, and formatters
  • Beautiful covers appealing to Christian Historical Romance readers
  • An in-depth knowledge of the online marketplace
  • A competitive royalty rate on sales
  • We never charge any fees for publishing or marketing your work (of course!)
  • Our focus is on digital but we publish all our books in paperback
To submit a proposal for consideration, either use the Contact page or send an email to submissions@mistymbeller.com with the word Submission in the subject line. If sending an email, attach your proposal to the email as a single Word document. If you use the Contact form, we'll respond via email to request your proposal.
Your proposal should include the following:

  • A 2-3 page synopsis for the book and a short description for any other books in the series (we do prefer series but will consider a standalone).
  • Include the word count of the book and whether it’s finished–if not, when it will be.
  • 2-3 comparable books, and what makes your book unique from these.
  • Your full bio, including any writing credits, writing groups you take part in, awards for writing, and something about you.
  • Your marketing abilities, including number of reader email list subscribers, social media followers, launch team members, and anything else. (Note: We don't expect you to do all the marketing - it's a partnership! For this purpose, we simply want to get an idea of your current platform. Your numbers won't make or break your chances with Wild Heart Books. Our decision will be based primarily on your story and how well it fits with our brand.)
  • Sales numbers if this book has been published in the past, as well as dates, and any links to the book if it’s still online.
  • Sales numbers of any book you’ve had published, whether traditional, indie, or small press, along with release dates.
  • Three chapters, Times Roman, 12 pt, double-spaced. Do not indent first paragraph of a new chapter or scene.

Is your book a true Historical Romance?
While it's easy to know if your book falls into the Historical category, the Romance portion of the genre name can seem more vague. Let us help with a simple test!

If you take the romance thread out of your story, does the story still feel complete?
If your answer is "Yes," your story is not a true Historical Romance, but is Historical Fiction with a romantic thread. That may not sound like a big difference, but it is!

Wild Heart Books knows that our readers crave true Historical Romance stories, and that's what we're committed to providing.
